Cricket is the most entertaining play. With the new edition of twenty 20 and IPL it has made it more interesting .All the world is very much excited with this game. The cricket fans enjoy not only the match but they also want to know every thing from the cricket ground to the gallery. They are always curious to know details of it. If they are asked about the name of the captain of India they will promptly tell the name of M.S.Dhoni but they will never ask weather the captain of the women’s team or men team. It is clear that they are concerned with the men’s cricket team. 90% supporters either from men or women collect information of men’s cricket while they have no idea about women’s cricket. From print media to electronic media cover only the proceedings of men’s cricket of the World. Though India have a women’s cricket team to participate in the international cricket most people do not have any idea about it and their not also interested about it.

                    The first recorded women’s cricket match was reported on 26^th July 1745. It was reported in The “Reading Mercury”. The match was contested between Bramley eleven maids and Hambledon eleven maids. The first known women’s cricket club was the White Heather club. It was formed in 1887 in Yorkshaire. After three years the original English lady cricketers toured England. Australia set up a women’s cricket league in 1894. Port Eligabath of South Africa had a women’s cricket team named pioneers cricket club. The women’s cricket association was formed in the year 1926.

                    The international women’s cricket council was constituted in 1958. It was formed to coordinate women’s cricket around the world with a view to take over from the women’s cricket association. It had been the same job since its creation in 2005. Then the IWCC was merged with the International cricket council “ICC” to make a united body to manage and to develop cricket.

                                                                                                                           

A short history of Indian Women’s Cricket

Cricket is not an Indian game. It comes to India through the British in early 1700s. The Indian cricket team was constituted in 1911. The India played first debut test in 1932 against England. At the same time around 1934 England and Australia women cricket team played first test match. The women’s cricket team appeared much later. The Indian women’s cricket team was played first test match in 1976 with West Indies. The women cricket association of India made in 1973 and in 2006 the Indian women cricket association was merged with BCCI. Twenty20 cricket match has crated a new history in the world cricket. Because it is much more entertaining than test and one day international matches. At begging of twenty20 cricket women cricket team played few matches only but later the number of playing this cricket increased. The women cricket team also played ICC twenty20 world cup. Many of people may not know that the first women’s world cup was held in 1973 in England and then after two years first men’s world cup was held. India was first participate women world cup in1978.

Jhulan Goswami got ICC Women's Player of the Year Award in 2007.

She became the fourth woman to reach 100 ODI wickets during the Women's Asia Cup in 2008.

She has been honored award Arjun.

Though men and women both are equal but men’s games like cricket, foot ball is more highlighted than that of women’s games. When women’s cricket is played it focus little in the news. When men’s world cup, twenty20, IPL is played it covers largely in the telecast by all media like print, audio and audio visual media and all cricket lovers feel excitement and enthusiasm. Comparatively women’s cricket can not attract the attention of cricket lovers. It’s because of the apathy of the media. Yet our women’s cricketers have placed a mark in the world arena for playing good cricket. We are proud of Jhulan Goswami, Amita sharma, Mitali Raj etc for their extra ordinary performance in playing women’s cricket.
